Define Titration & Mention it’s Types? Details of Process

Titration

It is a technique for an experimental process used to determine the strength of unknown solution by reacting it is standard solution in presenc of (usually) third chemical substances is called indicator.

What is titration

During titration, of known volume of unknown solution is taken in a conical flask with the help of eieepte. Another standard solution is taken in burate and this to solution are allowed to react as the reaction completes, there occurs sharp change in the color of solution. Which is called end point of titration.

Endpoint of titration is the point which indicates by Sharp change in color of solution.

During reacting unknown solution with a standard solution. In such case during titration indicator is used ,some time the solution is i act as ndicator. In acid base titration end point is called multrlization point.

Types of Titration

1)Acid-Base Titration

2)Redox titration

1)Acid-Base Titration:

A titration in which strength of unknown solution of acid is determined with the help of standard solution of Base and vice versa is calked Acid base titration. There are two types of Acid base Titration.

a) Acidimetry

A titration in which strength of unknown solution of acid is determined with the help of standard solution of base is called Acidimetry Titration.

b) Alkylimetry

A titration in which strength of unknown solution of alkyl is determined with the help of standard solution of base alkalimetry titration.

2)Redox Titration:

A titration in which strength of unknown solution of oxidising agent is determined with the help of standard solution of reducing agent and vice versa is called redox titration. example titration between potassium permanganate ( oxidizing agent) solution and Oxalic acid (reducing agent) solution act is self indictor or auto indicators.

Indictors

An Indicator is reagents used in titration to detect the end point that is completion of the reaction.
